Rival to the Great Lakes
Tarsar Marsar is the connoisseur's Kashmir trek — quieter than the Great Lakes route but every bit as beautiful. Twin almond-shaped lakes sit either side of a ridge, with Sundersar making a third, and campsites like Lidderwat and Shekwas rank among the valley's loveliest.
The Route
From Aru village above Pahalgam: Lidderwat → Shekwas → Tarsar (12,450 ft) → over the Tarsar pass to Sundersar, with a ridge walk to gaze down on Marsar → descent via the Homwas trail back to Aru.
