Overview
Nanda Devi is the goddess-mountain of Kumaon, and this trek brings you to the foot of her eastern summit. Following the Johar valley route past Martoli, the trail turns toward Pachu / Bhital Gwar and climbs to base camp meadows directly beneath the colossal south face of Nanda Devi East. Combine big-mountain drama with the deep cultural heritage of the Johar villages.
Highlights
- Base of Nanda Devi East (24,391 ft) — the sacred peak of Kumaon
- Johar valley heritage villages — Martoli and beyond
