Overview

The Milam Glacier trek follows the roaring Gori Ganga river through one of the most dramatic gorges in the Indian Himalaya, tracing the old Indo-Tibetan salt trade route to the once-prosperous village of Milam. The trail passes waterfalls, hanging villages, and the abandoned stone houses of the Johar valley before opening out beneath the east face of Nanda Devi. At the glacier snout, the scale of the ice and the amphitheatre of peaks — Hardeol, Trishuli, Nanda Gond — is unforgettable.
