Overview
Sunderdhunga — the valley of beautiful stones — is the wildest of the three valleys radiating from Khati. The trail is rougher and lonelier than Pindari, climbing past Jatoli to the meadows of Kathalia beneath the huge walls of Maiktoli and Tharkot. A further climb reaches the sacred tarn of Devi Kund. For experienced trekkers who want raw, unpolished Kumaon.
Highlights
- Maiktoli (22,320 ft) and Tharkot towering above camp
- Sacred alpine lake of Devi Kund
- Wilder and quieter than Pindari/Kafni
- Dramatic glacier moraine landscapes
- Remote village of Jatoli
