Ladakh at Walking Pace
Nicknamed the 'baby trek', Sham Valley is the gentlest way to experience Ladakhi life on foot: low passes, apricot villages, monastery visits at Likir and Rizong, and homestay dinners of skyu and butter tea. Ideal for families, first-timers and acclimatization days.
The Route
Likir → Yangthang via Phobe La and Chagatse La → Hemis Shukpachan through its sacred juniper grove → over Mebtak La to Ang/Temisgam, with road links back to Leh. Every stage is short enough to savour.
Best Time and Difficulty
May–October — one of Ladakh's longest trekking windows. Easy: passes stay under 12,500 ft and stages under four hours, yet the cultural reward is enormous.
Detailed day-wise itinerary, current price and departure dates are shared on enquiry. Conditions, permits and regulations change season to season — we confirm everything current at booking.
