A Trek of Two Worlds
Pin Parvati is Himachal's most storied crossover: ten days from the rain-soaked forests, hot springs and meadows of the Parvati valley over a glaciated 17,450 ft pass into the ochre desert of Spiti's Pin valley. The transformation is total — and earned.
The Route
From Barshaini past Kheerganga and Tunda Bhuj, camps at Thakur Kuan, Odi Thach and Mantalai lake stage the glacier approach. The pass day crosses crevassed snowfields before descending to Pin's first camps and the roadhead near Mudh.
Requirements and Season
July–September only. This is expedition-flavoured trekking: rope work on the glacier, river crossings, and multiple nights above 14,000 ft. Prior high-altitude experience and a strong guided team are essential — treat operators casual about safety as a red flag.
