The Goddess of the Sacred Spring

Kheer Bhawani, the goddess Ragnya Devi, is worshipped at a temple built over a sacred spring at Tulmulla. Most revered by the Kashmiri Pandit community, the shrine takes its popular name from the offering of kheer (rice pudding) made to the spring.

The Colour-Changing Spring

Devotees hold that the spring's water changes colour, and that darker shades foretell difficult times for the valley — a belief woven deep into Kashmiri tradition. The annual Jyeshtha Ashtami mela is the temple's great gathering.
