The Goddess of Flame

Jwala Ji is unique among Shakti Peethas — here the Goddess is worshipped not as an idol but as eternal natural flames that burn from the rock, said to mark where Sati's tongue fell. The temple's blue flames have drawn pilgrims and emperors for centuries.

Darshan and Significance

The main flame and several smaller ones burn continuously in the sanctum. The temple sits in Jwalamukhi town, an easy visit combined with Kangra's Brajeshwari and Chintpurni on a Himachal Devi circuit.

Best Time and How to Reach

Visitable year-round; Navratri is peak. Reach via Kangra (nearest rail/airport at Gaggal) — around 30 km, well connected by road from Dharamshala and Palampur.

Darshan timings, permits and mela dates change through the year — we confirm everything current when planning your yatra. Traditions around Shakti Peethas vary by source.
