India's Most Beautiful Meadows?
Dayara Bugyal is one of the largest high-altitude meadows in India — kilometres of rolling green (or in winter, white) with the Bandarpoonch and Srikanth ranges filling the horizon. It's the trek to choose when you want maximum reward for minimum logistics.
The Route
From Raithal or Barsu village (both reachable from Uttarkashi), the trail climbs through oak forest to Gui and onto the open bugyal, with camps around 11,000 ft and a high point near Bakaria Top (12,100 ft). Total walking is short — perfect for long weekends.
Best Time
Genuinely year-round: lush green in the monsoon shoulder months, golden in autumn, and a superb beginner snow trek from January to March. Each season is a different trek.
Difficulty
Easy. Days are 3–5 hours with steady, forgiving gradients — suitable for fit families and first-timers. Village homestays at Raithal add a warm cultural start and finish.
